More Information on Semi Precious Stones

Following is a summary of several stones I have researched (check back often - more to come).

Amethyst: on a physical level is said to help detox or find sobriety. Amethyst is also good for our emotions; amethyst aids in grief, brings about happiness and encourages peace.

Blue Lapis Lazuli:  Gem grade natural lapis has a rich blue color, like a night sky bedecked with stars. In the Bible, the ancient Hebrews used lapis lazuli in the breastplate of Aaron, the high priest.

Green Aventurine: Medium green with a metallic iridescence caused by fuchsite (green mica) inclusions. Aventurine has been used in traditional cultures to promote leadership abilities.

Sunstone: Strong orange, tan and pink hues collaborate with a metallic glitter to resemble the sun's radiance. Sunstone symbolizes protection, power and energy.

Moonstone: Moonstone has translucent white color with a white 'moon' that rolls over the stone when rotated. Moonstone was once called the 'traveler's stone' - protecting traders and merchants from the perils of travel.

Turquoise: Believed to be a most efficient healer, providing peace for the spirit and well-being for the body.  It's effective in dispelling negative energy and aids in the protection against pollutants in the environment.

Rhodonite: This bright pink stone has a lovely pattern of black dendritic inclusions. A stone native to Oregon, Rhodonite has traditionally been used to encourage generosity of spirit.

Brown goldstone: Here, thousands of tiny copper particles glitter against a brown background. The story has it that a monk accidentally dropped copper shavings into a vat of molten glass to create this fabulous material.

Carnelian: Most carnelian originates as a dull brown agate. When skillfully heat-treated, it becomes a bright, burnt-orange. Carnelian was used in Roman times to protect against envy, fear and rage.

Abalone shell: A swirled pink, blue and silver iridescence from the Baja blue abalone shell. Abalone has been revered throughout the world as a source of fertility and protection.

Botswana agate: has a grey background with brown, light grey and white bands. Botswana agate has traditionally been used to sustain attentiveness to detail.
